Braeside Camp Laundry Girl: 1985 & 1986

Mo started going to Braeside in the mid-1970s when her dad (Mr. C) served as the cook.
(Mr. C was the cook at Braeside along with Mrs. Russo from 1970 to the late 1990s.)
Mo learned to swim at Braeside (like so many
other kids in Orange County). She came on staff in 1985 and did lots and lots of camper laundry! After graduating from college, Mo began her career working in nursing
homes first as a social worker and then as an administrator for the past 20+ years. In her spare time, there is nothing she likes better than traveling just about anywhere! She
hopes to retire (soon) in Maine in a house on a lake with a huge loon population where she will live with her husband, Mike, & her dog, Munson.

Braeside Camp Kitchen Kid, Counselor, Program Director: 1981-1989.
Vic joined the staff at Braeside Camp in the summer of 1981 as a kitchen kid at the behest of his mother, who said she could no longer afford to feed him 12 whole months a year. The connection with camp was immediate and complete. After year 9 and graduation from SUNY Cortland, Vic and his then girlfriend and current first wife moved to North Carolina, where they continue to live. Vic spent his career in the hospitality industry (with a long-standing sideline in the entertainment field as a comedian and actor) running restaurants and eventually starting a street-side hot dog cart that garnered national attention, best hot dog in America honors, and included being featured in commercials, a book, movies, and a Super Bowl ad. Now retired, Vic has dedicated his time to rebuilding the camp that helped to shape the man he was to become with work from NC and trips up to work at camp and on special events. Vic punched well above his weight class and is still married to his first wife of 35+ years and has 2 kids who aren’t too bad as well.

Will served as Board Chair October 2006 through April of 2019.
Will’s journey with Braeside began when his friend, Maureen Torelli (then Mo C), invited him to assist with the finance committee. Professionally, Will is the Vice President of Revenue Operations & Managed Care at Garnet Health System, where he has been a valued leader for 27 years.
Beyond his work at Braeside, Will is an active member of the community. Shawn may not have had the opportunity to be a camper at Braeside, as he grew up in Warwick, NY, and attended local day camps instead. However, during his time on the Board, he has heard countless wonderful stories about Braeside. Shawn was first introduced to the camp through his work with William Scheuermann, who spoke so highly of his experiences as a young camper and counselor. Having collaborated with William for nearly a decade at Garnet Health Medical Center, located across from Braeside Day Camp, Shawn became inspired by the positive impact Braeside has on the community. This motivated him to join the Braeside Day Camp Board, driven by a desire to contribute to this remarkable organization. When he is not working or serving on the board, Shawn is an avid golfer whose favorite place in the world is the first tee box! Shawn holds a Master of Public Administration from Marist University.

Braeside Camp Counselor: 1986-1992.
Chuck, like many other alumni, worked many Summers at Braeside and fell in love with the place and the people. We all became one large, crazy family laughing all summer long and crying when camp ended.
Mr. & Mrs. Warner, the Camp Directors during his time, were instrumental in passing
"The Braeside Spirit" onto the counselors and the campers and taught us love, compassion & respect while also having a great time.
Chuck graduated from SUNY New Paltz, moved out West and went to grad school getting his MBA. He now lives in Phoenix, AZ, works in Real Estate and loves traveling, photography and the outdoors. He helps Braeside from afar as it still holds a dear place in his heart.
